Yep....summer’s here in south Florida. Already....and it’s just April. I love the heat of it all. It brings down loads of tourists....and We get to show ‘em how We DO IT in the Big city....so to speak. Course, I’m spoiled...I get some of the best of them.....the ones who can “Hang” with the best. The ways in that We serve them. The Best Sexy crowds....the Best cocktails (*not metered)...and of course...the Best Musics. Blend all that together...and you’ve got a Vibe that’s as thick as the midnight blue.

These two podcasts, delivered here....represent Such a Night. (*play Dr. John’s “Such A Night” here.) This crowd came together out of such a midnight blue ….Not your “Usual” suspects I’d say. Very vocal too....Lots of hands in the air screaming during breakdowns and that. Just the way I like ‘em. So, since most of you couldn’t be there....(*and you Wish you were.) Here’s a coupla sets to wet your whistle. Just listen how I was Talking to them....subliminally.

Part Two...starts in at around 11:30ish....and Part Four starts at around 2:15ish.....to the end of the night. To a packed house!! Much like we DO IT (*Live) Every Friday night. Yes, the music changes..and part Four was on a little more “Alternative” tip than usual...but they were Taking it like pros...and since I had it...They got it!! And, the Epic Funk kept chugging them right along....holding it’s power on them till the lights come up. Ok, the ending of this night may seem a little abrupt, knowing that I usually like to “Come Down” a bit slower....but they just kept yelling for more, and just didn’t want to leave. There was Def something magical in the air.

Keep in mind...that you will need to turn up the volume....and maybe pour a Stiff one to try to catch the Love. As this was some great peak night hotness. You know how I live to Mix It UP.

Just a reminder. This coming Friday night....being the 3rd Friday night of the month....Which BTW we Do Every 3rd Friday.....IS Mandance!! When they move walls and turn the bar into a dance club. Happy 2011 My little Beat bunnies,

I certainly am holding up my end....what with all the madnesses that made up the party end of the year.....O...MG....Becky. I ended up having to spin Christmas Eve....AND New Years Eve.

I’m not complaining...as they were Both some of the best nights Ever in the club. Crowds that were Ready, and Willing, to GO there. They had Me going for sure. Raising their glasses and their voices. Must‘ve been the music. And, they Seemed to have “Started” earlier this year....not waiting to come late....but by 11pm....there was crowd mass.

Now....on That note....you Know, how I love to ‘Come UP”. Well....I enjoyed the end of the year So much....and 2011 already beginning with a “Bang”....I thought that I’d start this years podcasts....with a little “Taste” of how we “Began.’ Here’s TWO....”Come Up” sets actually....from Two different, Consecutive nights. So you can see how two nights....back to back....turn out just a bit different...according to how the crowd fills the room. The 2nd night filling faster....it got harder quicker.....boing.

Don’t get me wrong....I love Love LOVE Peak night....when it’s shoulder to well....shoulder....and they are hollerin’ and carrying on....like they Do. But, early night....when there are only a few “Fans” in the room....gives me a chance to get My groove On....before I have to Push them.

So, here’s a taste....of two Different nights....and how they came UP.

Stay tuned....and keep your panties on....cause next time....I’m thinking I’ll give you Two “Peak” night sets....different nights as well.....to contrast how They work the same....but different.

Same bag of music as always....it just keeps coming and coming out …..different....but at the same time.....Herbicidal.

Abundant Manly Dancing....Ok...they just call it Mandance. A bit too mundane for my taste as I like to take things a bit more over the edge...(*sly)...and I’m Still trying to get them to put a Bear “Furry” on the street with one of those big Arrow signs pointing to the bar for the night....but noooo. I mean really...how fun would That be.

Alas...it Still happens...every third Friday of the month....this fanTastic big Little party they call Mandance. It happens at the Ramrod in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. And it Does go Off too. No, it can’t compare to the big clubs...as it’s a small room....with a big heart...and a Lot ,a LOT, of Soul.

You can’t buy this vibe....it creates itself. The people have to bring it with them to share. You have to leave the house with it. Bring enough to spill some they say. And they do....sometimes all over the place...but that’s the Ram for ya. They serve it UP. Just the way I like it.

Here, I’m giving up just a taste of this Past month’s Mandance....during what was just about peak night. This is some of my fave Big Progressive Vocal tracks of the moment. Loving this sound right now. Hope you will too.

So....until I get to “Feel” you in the room the next time....and you Really Do Need to come “Feel” this for yourself....because it Never sounds the same from an mp3 Copy....as it does when you are There....BEing there....with a few cocktails and all that sexiness rubbing up against you....but go ahead....Turn it UP....Turn up the Bass....Put on your Sunday going to church shoes and bust a rug....(*snicker).....Here is Just a taste of what they got last time.

I AM.....how do you say....Delicious. Oh yeah! I AM a delicious, and local, South Florida DJ du jour....and I hold Fabulous court every week. I stand before you, accused, of dancing to my own drummer. I beat out beats like no other. My tune choices sometimes cross lines not crossed before. Sometimes it’s music to open a room, but Sometimes, it’s music to change lives. I open eyes and I open minds. Sounds big. But, I hear things. I know things. I feel things....differently.

I Believe. I have Faith. I preach and I teach. I have something to say. What you ask. In What you ask. Of what. Well, I’d say all you have to do is listen to my tune choices....as I was so aptly pointed out to this during this past week. Because I am always talking to you.....in song. Every song may not even have a lyric....that’s not the point. Let the Spirit of the lyric carry you until the next one.

I AM first a dancer. Yes, it’s been some years, and the steps have changed. But the 4/4 remains the same, well sorta. I also have always liked to push the limits of what might be “Expected.” I love “Songs with Lyrics.” They tell a story of love and of being loved. The beats that connect them however can range from your typical drum sounds of bass, snare, hi-hats etal....to 4/4 beats created of sounds Made by Sounds. Techno. I Love Techno. I Love Technology.

To me....Techno creates waves of beats. I begin dancing in Phrases instead of just beats. Phrases of waves of beats. They wash over me in sexxxtions of two, four, and even eight beat sections. I like to pick out noises to dance to....noises become the ONE....the downbeat. They become the beginning of where I hang on to the beat. My step, and feel, is still on the 1,2,3,4....but I hang, bend, sway and lean on the phrase. I wait for it. I anticipate the One. And that’s when the hands meet the air. But all you dancers out there know this without having to think it.

All That said....Now to the music for this podcast. Wow. I have over the years been made in-Famous by getting to, and being able to play some pretty outrageous parties and residencies. Very lucky I might add. Recently, I have this Fab little Big gig here in Fort Lauderdale at a very sexy little Big back room club called Slammers. I’m playing there Because of what I like to play. The owners there tell me they want less vocals...infact....No Divas at all. Don’t get me wrong...I still give them vocals....now and again...but mostly the Sexy ones. (sly) So for this Herbicidal installment, it is with My Pleasure....that I give to You...just a taste.....of the sexual flavor, that I love to bring to that room. It’s Hotness squared into a wicked maze of rooms and stairs and closets, with great flow, great sound, great sensual lighting ....great staff....and ME. Serving it Up....on a techno and progressive flava.

OK....go grab hold of your favorite cocktail...Hoist it high and in my general direction....Turn UP the volume and crank this set into your senses....and take the ride on My wild side. I should hope that All your big room parties should be This sexy. (ps...I Need A Dancefloor!!)

Hey all my little monsters....

One of my favorite song lyrics from Lilly Allen states....."I'll take my clothes off...and it will be shameless....'cause, Everyone knows, that's how you get famous."

Ok, well, This; is how it Really happened. No, I mean really....the naked truth....>0 Then, of course, if I Did have the time and space here to ..."Spill the beans."...You probably wouldn't believe me anyway. Scary as the truth is sometimes. But, It caught up with me lately. When a friend of mine, Dennis Jozefowicz, asked me to answer a few candid, all the sordid detail, questions....so that he might do an "E - True Hollywood Story" type interview for the South Florida Gay News (http://www.southfloridagaynews.com) and I said ...'Sure, E-Me.

Well, and this is the truth, with only a Few sordid details left out to protect the innocent. And a coupla weeks later, he called and said that I was to be in next week's issue. Some apprehension in between....and the paper shows up with Me Center Stage....meaning put your thumb on the paper to open it...and I've been given Center fold, Right side, Full color half page picture, a not so badly spoken interview, with no ad-space around it. Honestly, and Humbly, I was Blown away. (tail wagging....wagwagwagwagwag.) (*re--Blushing).

So, believe this. No, Really. Some people, who Know me aside from my booth personality, may know that I don't really accept heart-felt compliments like that very easily. No, really. So, I thought, Wow....I Am truly blessed to have such great friends, who look after me like that. What a team we are indeed. Give yourselves all a big round of applause.....with my love.

Speaking of.....My buddy, and Love of my life, Wayne and I have been working some time now on the Production side of making music. With some excellent results. This time with Remixes of the new Ron Perkov single "It Doesn't Matter." Which, Just got released for a two week exclusive run on Masterbeat.com. Then to the world. Other than being busy on the music....I'm just glad to BE here. Making my way in my little corner of the this blue marble of a planet. I feel so small in the big picture..(been watching a lot of the "Universe" series lately.)...but, I know that my spirit carries a Lot of energy...and energies. We are All connected...and we All get what we give. So, Might as well be positive then, right. That said....please keep your head high to the sky....and don't buy into all the hype of what you hear on TV...(TV is NOT the truth.)....and Please, don't live in fear.

The Horrors of it All!!

Well it Had to happen. I finally gave in. But, I went kicking and screaming. And, I'd Do It again. Turned out....it was great fun. Ok.....I didn't Totally give in to evil....the evil that is Cheeze. I did give them Herbicidal Top 40. In my own way....and That's the only way I know How to give it. Don't hate me for the shape of my head....or the music in me. It just turned Out that way. I was Trying to give the dark and dirty....because it was a dark and dirty theme party....but the crowd that night just wasn't getting it....and what with the type of requests that I was getting .....I just decided to turn the program around....and let them have what they wanted, and give them the Herbicidal Hits....as it were. So, here's what really happened. Here's how the night turned out. Here's the last two sets of the night that comprised the last hour plus and then the come-down to the end. Which I loved. I Loved the come-down. Which....is mostly why I thought the night totally worked.

Don't get me wrong....it was a packed house....and they were ONIT....but it was a completely different crowd from the night before.....when they Did get the hard dark nastiness. (that will just have to be anOther podcast....soon.) But here ya go....the Herbie at the Top. The top of the bottom of the Top 40 charts....the songs that are always in the bag.....they just don't find their way out as often....I love it all. Great tunes....Great songs. Hope you Enjoy the Ride.

So....the scene of the crime....was my latest trip to Columbus OH when I played the Exile Bar. This time it was for the Gay Softball World Series....Hot Hot Hot....The room is hot and so was the crowd. You would so Love this Room. Ok...and the Men that make it home. HOT. I'm sure that the locals appreciate all the promotions and adventures that the Exile provides. This weekend they even had a portable 100 foot shower set up out back....With a mirror ball inside. I think it was because of the fact they had "Honey Wrestling," (Bears + Honey = Tasty Bears) but, who cares why....just the fact that they had a huge truck that was a Shower....wagwagwag. Not to mention they roasted a whole pig....oink. And, they had Me....and I let them Have It....and they love me. Or so they say ...(w). I do love BEing there....and they are putting a Lot into the space. Changing it up...and before it's all said and done....it will be even more fantastic. And Talk about friendly....boing. Fun all around. Stay tuned....as I'm going back soon. Tail waggin.....wagwagwagwag. So, If you R Ever in the Columbus area....Do stop in and give your best to Rob and all the handsome crew that keep the flames burning.

Ok....it wasn't That horrible....and you'll probably really like it....just take it like a man. After all....it Is Herbicidal.

It's Time to Get Serious my Little Monsters.....

Yes....it is My, "Time of the Month." It's also Your time of the month....for Mandance!! And, it's happening this Friday during South Florida Gay Pride weekend. As this Friday begins the craziness that is Pride. Always a blast of a weekend. But then....every Friday has been a really good time in the club and the crowd has "Let...Me...'aVe IT." So, I can't Wait for this one.

So here's a little sumin' sumin' to wet your musical whistles. It's not too hard or too soft...(hehe)....but it is a little funky....just the way we like it. Just a little taste of how it all comes out during the course of any given night. It's never the same....but neither is the crowd that demands it. I play to Them. With a few twists and bumps along the way of course.

Hey Lovers,

I have been having So much fun lately. The music is getting So exciting. I think it's the energy that it creates. Of course, I'm there start to finish...and I get to watch what happens to the crowd as it becomes this life-force, with a mentality all it's own. It ebbs and flows like an amoeba....from the black lagoon....snicker. There's all kinds too....peoples with attitude...with baggage...with sexual attitude....with sexual baggage. It all adds up to a bunch of crazies getting all liquored up, and making the circle flow that is the bar-life. Me, on the other hand.....I'm stuck in my own little world....control freak that I AM....and it's me controlling the little musics of the night. Course they, the little musics... are really big musics....they are powerful, powerful messages. They also have lives of their own, and they create an energy and a sexualness that makes Some people do some Stuff....and stuff. They create a chaos, a melee, that once it starts it goes where it goes. No stopping it 'till it's over. Sometimes spirits are moved....sometimes it's the bodies. Sometimes minds are touched....sometimes it's the hearts. I'm always talking to them....sending out subliminal messages that make you go hmmmmm. One of my fave quotes, is from Robert Ashley's "The Bar.'' And he says...."....Short ideas....Repeated....Massage the brain." Boom Tsst, Boom Tsst, Boom Tsst, Boom Tsst.

I AM .....Truly....Blessed. Blessed with the gift of music. I say it's a gift, because I don't know how this comes out of me without the help of a higher love. I mean who else could have made Me a great programmer of music? I thank God every day for giving me this gift. The Higher Love!! And, thank You, for allowing me to share it with my small universe. Because this music is much bigger than I am. I am only the vessel. I give it back the way it's given me. I only put the music in the bag....the way it comes Out of the bag is entirely up to the creativity given me In the chaos. Creativity In Chaos....that's the only way I can explain it.

This night I had all kinds of people come up to me, and ask, "What's got into you tonight?" And, say things like...."You have lost your mind,' and 'Where, are you going tonight." I don't exactly have the answer to any of those questions. The music plays itself. All I do, is start it with a song. Then one song leads to the next one...and the next one. I can only think a song or two in advance. It flows out the way it flows Out. And over the night, it will most likely take a few twists and turns. I only collect the music that I love. I let the LOVE of it, put order to it. It's my "Style." I don't think there's anybody who would play the same records the same way. It would just sound different. If fact....I have to confess.....What I think is one of the greatest compliments paid to me....and the music that I play....IS....people come into the room All the time....and tell me...."Before I could even see who was spinning....I could tell it was you (that'd be me>)." I don't know exactly what that means....and I hope it's a good thing....but, I take it as the highest compliment that anyone could give a DJ....because that means that I actually DO have a "Sound." I can't even give it a name...I just know that when I go out....I don't hear anybody else playing the same music. It must be the way I connect drums and basslines...and vocals and breakdowns...in a way that makes some sense. I am a dancer from way back in the day....so now, I play the music that I would want to hear if I was on the dancefloor. In my room of course. And, I have no doubt that I have some kind of story to tell. Too much musical history not to. You can hear my roots in the classics that I drop time to time. It's all in the bag....it just comes Out that way. Different night to night. That story being....I play the party. I play the Room. The crowd that's there at the time. The sound system. Some of the songs may even be the same night to night....and the energy can be totally different. I'm not sure if it's the order of the songs....or the pitch....or the vibe in the room. What ever it is....They. Make me DOIT.

So this set....started out a little rough....As I started with something like Etta James and Amy Winehouse, maybe some Al Green....but I had a song in mind...with an intro...and I couldn't for the life of me find it in the bag....(Until about 3 hours later.) Don't ask. So that didn't happen and I had to find another. Which is were we start here. The last podcast posted was a come down set....So, This one is a come UP set. Different night, probably a different feel. It is what it is....I just felt like it was a good one...and that You needed to hear it. So, crank up the volume....make yourself a strong cocktail....and powder the floor. This ones Sexxxxxy. Part two might be coming....I just need to hear back about one of the tracks first. (*re-snicker).

So, till the next time we get together. Make it a good one. Tell somebody you love 'em. Play safe. And holla at me if we're close. And, if you are in a club and the music is bumpin', seek out the DJ and tell them that you are diggin' what he/she is serving.

Hello out there....all my fave Fabnesses.

It's been some wild and full on hands in the air fun nights as of late. I only wish you All could BE there for all of them. And, I wish that I could post All of it in podcasts. Time and space allotted....it's just not possible. The other point to be made here....is a lot of you who Do make it to the club....and you come for many different reasons....(wagwagwagwag)....but, you sometimes don't stay to the very end....lights up...with security herding you out the doors. So, you miss some of the most musical fun of the whole story of the night. Now too, I don't always get to "come down." Sometimes the crowd, and the set, just doesn't let it happen that way. But, as you know from my past posts....I love to come up and to come down. This just happened to be one of those nights. A night when there were famous glitteratti in the room, and I was playing to them. This is a sample of what can happen.....when that happens.

Mind you....they have already been beat down with the Herbicidal sexualness....and might need a hug before they are "Herded". Too, they have been cocktailed, bumped, and groped by some of the sexiest sexiness in the world....from where I stand anyway. This one...they just didn't want to leave.....so I gave them a nudge. I love nudges. So, a few fierce cocktails....and lots of free groping later....this is how it all came "Down." It's when the energy is still pumping....and I turn them around for some delicious
late night / early morning grooves. Also, keep in mind...the lights were up and the bartenders are waving me down for at least the last twenty minutes. So, Let the games begin.

Hello all my favorite Beat buddies.

Welcome to Winter Music Conference week in Miami. And in case you have been under a musical Rock for the last 25 years....WMC is the biggest DJ event in the world....and it happens every year in Miami during what is probably one of the most beautiful times for weather here in what we call paradise. Every club, Every day, is having a party that one is as off the chain as the next. It's a full time job to try to do them...but worth every ounce of energy. I have some incredible memories of some legendary parties....that are still talked about. I've played my share during some of them. There is just a whole lotta love that fills the air. Lots of catching up with old music buddies, and lots of track exchange of the newest and hottest new music that the rest of us...will be playing a year from now....if we're lucky.

I, on the other hand, have to Work during the weekend nights, so These sets are what I was playing, feeling My "Vibe" one night at the club during. You know I try my best to represent in my little corner of the musical world. And you know that there is Never enough time to play everything....so here you have a little taste of what they got. I like it. The night was bumping with tourists and my tail was Waggin. (wagwagwagwagwag) As were quite a few other tails I might add.

Now go get it...and turn up the volume to a nice and loud....but comfortable level...maybe powder the floor so you can slide in your Sunday best dress....and turn it out as only you know how.

Lights, "Action", Cameras (recommended, as nobody will believe you later when you describe how it blew Up.) Yes, it Will be crazy...always is....as it IS the Fab March "Season" here in S FL. Winter Music Conference coming up next week....I'm always inspired and ready to "Bring IT." So, Represent....and bring your best Game....Face! (eg). I'll do my best to shake it down for you. Now, on to some podcasts. It's been since the NYE sets that I've posted new music....and there has been a wave of new music constantly coming to me. It's a tsunami I tell you. I try to not repeat too often, when it comes to podcasts. And, I've been having such a great time spinning for such great crowds and parties....that I think I'm just not going to over think them any more...and just start throwing you sets when I feel that the night was a blast. I know you can't always BE there, and that when you listen at home....you don't always have a cocktail in hand or have the volume pumped up to club levels (which I recommend anyway.) So, right now...I'm pleased to present you with two sets. One is the beginning of the night...and the second is the end of the night. Come up...and Come down. Both are fun fun Fun. There has been a lot of newbies in the room....to experience the RR "vibe" for the first time. Needless to say, they keep coming back. Never underestimate the power of music.

Now for something a little bit on the serious side. Sometimes....we get a wake up call...or reality check thrown at us. Sometimes....we just wake up with realizations of our "growing UP."
Recently...I have had so much love thrust at me....that I have tried to take some time to sit back and soak it in....the hows and whys of where it comes from....and why it came to Me. I think some of it is rooted in family. Family that is both bloodline and family that is extended. Bloodline is almost a given. I have been blessed with a lot of love that has given me the opportunity to pursue my creative side. My grandmother started me in piano lessons, that led me to study the instrument through college. I still play...and what a gift that is. My grandfather played to my love of owning and listening to records...and I have Always had a player of some kind....which now is a decent system in my living room and I am now learning to produce the music with cyber tools and software. I have a wonderful cyber guru in my buddy Wayne, who is a genius when it comes to software and the patience of teaching it To me. He also has a great "Ear" and talent of getting a performance out of someone. He's my "Producer".

As for my "Extended" family...my friends...I love them all as much as bloodline. I've always said that we are All connected..."six degrees of separation." But recently...I had an honor bestowed to me locally, here in Fort Lauderdale, that I was, for the third year in a row...voted, by Rimmer magazine readers, to be the "Sleaziest DJ" in town. Granted it's a local bar award / charity event that basically honors some of the fave "In the Biz" people here. But, it's a vote. I make fun of it every year, being that it's presented with a lot of tongue in cheek humor. But, it truly is a gathering of some really wonderful and fun people who make these bars and clubs as exciting as they are. Believe me, it would be a dismal place without them. A truly entertaining, one of a kind, event. So, I won once again this year...(3rd year in a row, which puts me into the "Rimmer Sleazy Hall of Infamy"....and, for being a good DJ. Infamous, not famous. Yes, I know, there's a difference$.

All that said....I am blessed with the gift of music and treasure every minute of it. I love my work, and I love sharing the process. Turns out, that one of the ways I can do this, is to share some of the music that comes out in the clubs, in the form of my podcasts. Thank you all for trying to keep up...and for listening.

Happy 2010 Universe!! I hope all my little beat bunnies are happy and continue in prosperity. I hope you know that I love you all....and that I respect the time you take to listen to this music. I hope it brings a smile to your face and maybe even lifts your spirit as you go about your days. I also hope it gives you reason to bob your head or shuffle your feet. I surely hope that I get to spin it live on a floor near you soon. I can only imagine what some of you were doing on NYE...but here's a little taste of what I was up to that night.

Picture this. Now, I haven't played for NYE in about five years. But, this year it fell on my night. I knew from looking at the lunar calendar that NYE fell on a "Blue" Full moon. If you've read my blogs in the past, you know that I Love full moons. They have this power on me. Makes my tail wag....wagwagwagwagwag. I like it. So I truly had no power this night, but the music....and that is a God given gift to me....I AM only the vessel.

After talking to a few different DJ's who also spun on this New Year's Eve, they all concurred that the crowd this night started UP early. I sort of expected that anyway....with the moon and the stars and all. In years past that I've played on NYE...I know that it can be on, or it can be a little off. There are just too many options for people to choose from. House parties and club extravaganzas and morning parties. They all pull different crowds. I actually expected a nice crowd.... blue moon and that.... but I had no idea it was going to be like it was. So, I went in at ten as usual. Already there were a few more party people in the club. Which was decorated for the night in Blue (blue moon, get it.) And we only used blue lights and black light all night. (re:blue moon) Also, I usually hold back the volume most nights 'till around midnight. I mean it Is a night club, and if you're there you should BE there for the club experience. This night though, being New Year's Eve the party crowd started early...and so did the volume.

By eleven pm I had a full room. They were dancing, and there were a lot of heads bobbin'. Midnight was crowded and the vibe was Hot. Did I mention that it was a crystal clear full moon night and unusually warm, around 75 degrees, this night was Hot! Again, NYE was a Thursday night this year...and we are supposed to close at 2pm...and I had already begun to bring the music down, BPM wise, to a nice deeper house feel. Well something happened at 2, I'm guessin' that other clubs were closing or house parties were over. But the place exploded with bodies, and you couldn't move. Screaming and craziness prevailed, and it was back up to some bumpin' and grindin' beats. They didn't want to leave....would you?

Anyways...back to the music. Normally, I like to start my nights a little down-tempo. Even playing some jazz or blues stylings. But this was NYE 2010 and I was out for a party. Good thing! But, I didn't want to hurt them too badly, too early, so I started with a musical hug. The message being in the lyrics. I had just bought the new remix of Matt Alber's "The End of The World", and wanted to hear it. (*first time even I had played it.) I live for that video and Matt's vocals. That vocal tells a beautiful story about love...and that story led me to play other stories. I do love to talk to my crowd with the music. But as the set develops, you can hear that I came up fast. With, my crowd, like I always say....Play the room. Holla. So, by midnight I was bangin' 'em with the Herbicidal punishment. The only plan that I had made for the night was a short "midnight" montage that I made to do the countdown. Pre-recorded so I didn't have to deal with cueing up one minute cuts on That Player. (R) (ps.Midnight happens around 25 minutes into part 2.) They yelled the count-down with me...a short Barbara hug...and back into the night with the bassline driven groove. Like I said before...Vibeing!!....they didn't want to leave. (w). I do have a few powers you know....and I only use them for good.

Trust me...it's going to be a good year. The power is with us...and In us. Let's all put that to the universe and see where it takes us. There have been some really nice words lately about the music....so I'm hoping that there will be a few big parties come out of them. Keep your ears open....and your heads to the sky. Look for me. I'll BE there for you.

December - Mandance.....Already!!

Zoom Zoom Zoom.

December...I mean Really? Where, did the year go? It's like in the movies, when they show you a time-line by ripping off the months of a calendar....but instead....you're There; INIT. Zoom Zoom. It's called Living. Funny thing....the older I get...the more I want to live it. LARGE. So, I'm a work in progress...and just a little bit ahead of my time I'd say. But then....who's to judge. I know I can't. ALL that I can do....is control the little things that I have control of in my little corner of the world.

One of the things that I Can do....is control the music as it comes out of my bag this Friday at the Ramrod Bar in Fort Lauderdale. They have this night called Mandance, when they move walls for me....to create a dancefloor....and It Works. You'll Have to BE there to see this thing go Off. It's gotten to be quite the Big little party. Fridays are always fun....but on the 3rd Friday of each month....when Mandance happens....this room is like an underground club in Amsterdam. They've been Very vocal lately too. Must be the tourists. They always liven up the room with new energy. BOING.

But, This Mandance....being December and all....is going to be wild for a few different reasons. I'm not privy to say Who....but there are a few peoples coming in this week....Celebrities in their own right ....from D.C. and NYC....that will be there to spec the club for future parties....me included of course....(w)...so IT"S ON. And I'm doing my part to try to make it GO OFF!! New music....some new classics....you know....Fierceness!!

So I'm inviting YOU.....to tell somebody....and bring your posse....This Friday night to the Ramrod ....and Dance with Me. Ok....some screaming would be nice too....(hehe).

(Deep breath before the Plunge) Hello my little Beat Doggies,

Picture this. It was White Party/ Miami/ weekend. Which is; truly a world class "Circuit" /Charity event by itself. Don't get me wrong though, it was hardly the Only thing going on that weekend. But this is the weekend that usually marks one of the first really big tourist weekends that we get here in south Florida. And, that's just one of the reasons that this is one of the best places to live on the planet. Like I said, there were a Lot of great parties that weekend, bringing people of all shapes and sizes, together. Now, this year I wasn't directly involved in "White"...so for now, I'll just have to give you a little look-see into what I did have a part in. I had to work my regular Friday night. Some say I do it for the love.

I Do.... Why do I love it? There are many reasons. Mostly it's the fact that this is a "jazz" gig for me. I have some tenure in the room, and they let me "take them", just about anywhere I want, musically that is. The club; Is known for it's DJ's...among other things....which are mostly figments of somebody’s overactive imagination. There is some history there. And, all Kinds of fun peoples populate those spaces. It's Definitely one of the best "Vibes" around. Like I said it was the start of hi-season, and between all the great events everywhere....I knew we were going to turn it Out that night. We did!!

The first set I'm giving you here, starts in at around 11;30-ish. Then, it's on to sets three and four, that continue to the end of the night. I'm leaving off the first set of the night...as I'm planning on making a future podcast of two or three opening sets..to show you how we get to this point. This one surely Felt like a great night to me, as they have been very verbal lately. I think that's a good thing. Sexy people expressing themselves is nice. Music-wise some people ask me what I play. I tell them that out of all the listening to download sites that I do during the week to week, that there are a lot of songs that get tested, and maybe only played once. But the ones that stick go in the bag. Then they all start to come together and create a certain "Sound" that has become Mine. It's the way I put the drums together, and how I mix and layer the breaks. I do try to mix up the styles, and to keep it sexy. I try to "talk" to you all night too, and to tell you things through the lyrics. Oh, and all this, is recorded "Live" in the club. There's usually a few shots of Jack involved, so I'm sure you hear the "Nudge" button, as much as I do. That being part of the um... "Charm"; that is the booth, that I spoke of earlier. (w).

Set three was where we all were at Peak night, screaming and carrying on as they were, this was one out of control, dancing (space available, which was the boxes, the stage, the steps.) cocktailing/ rubbing/ bouncing the night away to the end ; crowd. Too much fun was Had I'd say. Part four begins as the peak starts to fade, and then we start the descent to close, and out to the end of the night. Time to bring the BPM's down a bit, then a few songs that will close the evening out. Which I always enjoy doing. As, I like to send my people home with a musical hug, not just a kick, and out the door.

Like I said....it was a great weekend...and, this was a great night. I'm sorry you couldn't all have been there, but now you'll have a little taste. My only regret of all that, is that you listening at home....don't get the full volume, drop the bass kick, cocktailed and rubbin' on IT Vibe, that was in the room. You'll just have to turn it up, and try your best to "Feel" me....where Ever you are.

I already have an idea for the next podcast....so hold on to my love with this set, and maybe a coupla "classic" ones till then. Keep your heads to the sky....and stay tuned.

Wow, bing, bang, Boom Tsst Boom....it has been one wild few months. And it all seems to be coming together as we cyber. There has been So much great music coming and going....that it's really hard to keep up....much less play it all. And as time passes...very quickly I might add....it seems that my musical "Pendulum," has once again swung back toward what I'd call, pretty vocals. If you have to have a word to describe it. Lots of techy swirls and production values...and Still all over the place....but pretty. I will always drop brand new tracks for a test drive....and I will always drop the Herbicidal Classics to ground the set. So it still sounds like Me. So, not to mince words....Let's all powder the floor and put on your Sunday dancing shoes....and Hit IT! And That's....the short and sweet of it. This set is from last Friday....so it's very "What I'm playin' now."

There's some New News that I'll be very glad to share with you next time....but let's let that reveal itself more as it happens.

But, Before we get started,

It was late and it was humid. The sweat was running down the walls as much as it was their bodies. Ok, maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea. It was August in Fort Lauderdale, and having just dodged 3 hurricanes, the men were out to "have It." Me, I hold court in the corner of a very sexy little corner of the world called the Ramrod Bar. It's one of my "Crosses to bear." But, on the third Friday of every month, they do something very remarkable. They move walls out, and turn the bar, into a dance club. And believe me when I tell you, the energy is crazy Off The Chain sexual. Not so much physical as it is just, in the air. I think you know I know. I do have just a bit exxxperience in this area....(blushing.)

So this set, is the third of four CD sets of the night. Sounds like peak night to me, but then, I started at 10pm....and it was already crowded at 11....and it stayed that way until around 3:30. Last call being at 3am. I call it reading a room....but then, I walked in with an attitude to DOIT To them. Needless to say....I think they "Got It." So, Short and sweet this time. It's all about the music and a good time. I hope you have one listening back to this one. And I Hope....that if you are ever near by....on a third Friday of the month....that you'll stop in the Ramrod, and help me DOIT again.

Here's one of those...."If you had to ask my DJ Brain...."

Years ago....in a DJ booth, not so far away...but today, way long gone....when I actually started DJ'ing, playing records, at some of my now legendary residencies....the music was then, or so it seemed, much, Much slower. Many nights I would spin for almost an hour at BPM's from 78 to 100..easily. And, at that time...the Peak "Hi-NRG", was 130 / 132....and then you were flying. Around 124 / 126 was where most of the hits landed then.

Fast forward a few years...to a DJ booth not so far away....and I'm there, working one of my magical sets....during the peak middle of the night....just twirling the Herbicidal night away as it were. And this guy comes up to me; and ask me if I could play something faster. And then I said to him...."I think 128 ....sounds like Sex". Which is where I was playing at the time. So, here's a look at my DJ Brain at work. I'm always wondering what that means these days. Faster. I mean. I USED to play hard Trance. I played a couple of raves that I would Start my two hour set at 140 and mix up to 160 BPM. Believe me when I tell you, there were guys who would pick it up from there and go on. Days long gone now. And since what I play now is mostly dance music...and most dance music these days seems to fall in the 126-132 BPM range of things....at least they are around that, so you can then "pitch" them one way or the other when need be. And I do pitch things around to fit the moment. Dance music is a "Tool" to Get You There. But what I Like to play most of the "Peak" night ....seems to be beating around the 128 to around 130 mark. And I do think....that 128 feels, like "Sex" to me. It's not too rushed....and it sorta has that "feels like it's slowed a bit" feel to it....even if it's not. But, if I think there needs to be an "edge" to the "moment"...depends on who's in the room, who's rockin' and rollin' that night.....I pitch things up to around 130/131. But when I feel like I'm playing for feel....I look down and it's around 128. Just my DJ brain sayin'.

Ok so Hey...Here it is....It's summertime....and, it's hot as a ...(fill in your own expletive). But, if you have any coolness sense about you....you cope. You find yourself a sexy pool to lounge by,....or you hang it off the back of a "Big, big, Big ....yyyYacht...(to quote the late, great Eartha Kitt)....or at the very least....you get your sexy self down to your fave, fab, late night club du' jour ....and you rock it out,. .."a'ight." At the least you find yourself where the music's hot, and you hold court in a dark corner, head bobbin' with your cocktail and cigarette ....like in "Momma's Groove" (Osunlade)....Groovin'. This set here....felt like one of "Those" nights.

Well that's where I hope you were anyway, when I was throwin' down these bad boy beats. Oh yeah, it is the heat of summertime...the club may not be as busy 10 - 3 as it is in peak high season....but it hasn't stopped the bad boys from showin' out....and it surely hasn't slowed the flow of wicked new tunes that are coming out. You know I'm loving that. Are you with me?

So put on your going to church Sunday best shoes and socks. Or what-Eva wateva it takes to make you "Feel" like you're about to get some....and play this mix out Loud. Turn Up the Bass...and feel the 808. Then call somebody you really like and give them the link to it so they can be on the same level as you are. Just like in back in tha day when Everybody was on the same same.

Now....this may not be the hardest or the funkiest or the fastest. But these are some great new and old Herbicidal what will be classics. ‘Till I see you...Meantime. Keep your head high to the sky....and I hope you stop by the booth when I'm INIT...and say Hi. As always.

As you may have seen in the last few days.....the "Velvet Lounge" was compromised with a back door "Spam" intrusion. And not the Fun back door kind either. (inquire within) Like these people don't have anything better to do. We got our automation list spammed....by the Spam Bitches. (now there's a rock band waiting to happen....or maybe my new drag name for Folsom.) My deepest and humble apologies to you all for any inconvenience, or confusion that it may have caused. Dear Prudence,

Go ahead and put the children to bed. As it's about to get dirty. I'm just giving you a heads up. This set is beats and groove as it should be at any dark and throbbing big room with a "Sex on their mind" crowd. And, you should already BE there when it starts, so go have a coupla strong shots or...! Lazers in hand. Flags and fans in your pocket. Even play dress up...wrap it and strap it so you "Feel" like a party. 'Cause this ain't no come up set. This is peak night, dirty, beat-down, nastiness. This was a set from the same night as Black Party. (Yes, I know I should've posted it right away, but I was actually up for Another party who wanted more vocals, and I didn't want to scare them. ps, I didn't get the party) So, I just figured that since I wasn't there, but I was spinning...that I would give my crowd some of what I was channeling from that energy. From the feeling that I was getting from hearing all the hype that was happening around the world because of that particular party. This set is chuggy, bumpy, nasty, electro, funkiness with a back room twist. Not to be confused with the uplifting Herbie. He's still around. They are one and the same. This is only one side of me. Not even to say that the whole night was like this. It wasn't. But these are the beats that came out of me as the crowd was building in the room. Like I said....I had BP on my mind, and was sorta wishing I could watch it happen. So this is how it happened from My booth this night. Dirty.

Now, I'm not going to pretend....as, I've never gotten anywhere Near to being at the real Black Party. The one in NYC. As I've said before, my plan of being everywhere all the time, isn't quite panning out the way that I had supposed it. You know the one, Me Jetsetting around the world, on tour with all my buddies, hitting all the "IN" seasons and parties. Don't get me wrong, I represent every chance I get. So, once again, no, I've never been to a NYC Black Party, but; I "Get IT". I "Get" the whole picture. I was privileged to get to The Saint back in the day. Legend!! I even loved all that music. I played a lot of it. And if you've followed my blogs in the past, you know that I love the "Journey". I love to come up and then down, during the course of an entire night. I love classic Songs. I live for harmonies and beautiful lyrics. But I also love the beat-down. And if, you are anywhere near South Florida and know my work in the clubs, you know that I'm always changing it up. And since I have a great weekly residency, two nights a week (Thursday and Friday), plus the alternate Saturdays. Well, that allows me to, over the course of a couple of nights, play through a lot of my music in my bags. On That note, there Lots OF IT. I like it all.

Now, keep in mind...that my "alleged" residencies...are at bar's with no dance floor to speak of. But, they are THE places in town to get laid. So duh, We get the "havin' it" crowds. And they are under my spell. A lot of my crowd are also the same ones that would be at BP. I get to play to them every week. Talk about spoiled. These men get some of the best of the best all week long. And I'm not only talking about the music. These places pour the best drinks...offer some of the craziest promotions....and is the only place in the county that has a DJ every night of the week. Or, is it Me that's spoiled?...hehe. I AM the one that gets all that free groping. Makes my tail wag... wagwagwagwagwag.

So, I hope you enjoy the funk of it all. I know I do. Now, go put on your thigh-highs, or what ever it takes for you to get your Freak ON...and turn it UP. (3D pictures not included).

As some of you know by now. I have been DJ'ing at the Ramrod Bar in Fort Lauderdale on and off since they opened, a Lot of years ago. It's been one of my mainstay residencies for 10 years, playing anywhere from one to five nights a week there. Currently, I am spinning there every Thursday and Friday night, with a rotating Saturday night every month or so.

One thing I have to say about the Ramrod. In all my humble travels to the bit of the world that I've seen.... I've been to a lot of bars and dance clubs around the world and there is nothing like it anywhere. It has a great "Vibe". A very friendly and sexy crowd....to say the least. It is also one of the only places that has a disc jockey every night of the week. Each one of them has their own style, but all of them work together to create the unique vibe that is the Ramrod.

One thing is though, it's not a dance club per se. No dance floor so to speak. EXCEPT !!! Once a month now. On the 3rd Friday night of each month. Ramrod will move walls around to create a dance club. Turns out; It Works. And with the size of the room being what it is....it's packed with a line out to the street. AND....I am going to spin the Herbicidal. Voila....Mandance.!! Trust me....get there early to avoid the crush rush. Ok now....the word is out. So for all you peoples who want to Dance to the treatment. Bring your troubles to the ManDance floor....and Release yourself with Me.....your friendly neighborhood experience maker.

To all the people around the world who love music enough to Go to the source, Where Ever you are finding that source, and seek out the music that you love so much. I "Feel" You. And, for all the lovely peoples around the world that love the powdered dance floor. For all the seekers of "Journey". I am here for You. For all those brave souls, that are not afraid to trust me to take them on the musical quest of the night. Come with me Now. Loosen up anyway you can, and let's Go. Inspiration and Attraction. Find it.

Know that we live in paradise. Or, at the least, we make where we live, paradise. I say it, because in the universe of our minds, we are the ones to bring it home, to us, If we will only put it out there. I'm putting it out there. Baring my musical soul for you. Giving it To you the only way I can. With love. I spend hours every week seeking, IMHO, what I think, is some of the best of the best music of all types to bring to you every week at the club. It's a very time consuming task, but I have accepted it as my cross to bear. I Love my job.

Several very exciting things goin' on lately. Fueling the energy of this night. Now, I have said for years that I should take the month of March, off. Just to keep up with all the great things going on. This set is sort of a culmination of energies that I have been playing from lately. Last weekend was Black Party in NYC. Incredible things came out of me that weekend. And I promise I will post a set from all that very soon. (I don't want to scare the children, you know) And, I wanted to BE there, alas, my big plan of BEing everywhere all the time isn't quite working out the way I had planned it. Besides, I have been fighting a chest cold for the past two weeks, and have been hacking / coughing like a mad dog through that, till right about now, (soul brother). Amen. Then this past week, has been the Winter Music Conference in Miami. That is the most DJ intensive club experiences that happens anywhere around the globe all year long. Here it is in my back yard. Believe me when I tell you, I've done it for years, and to the extreme. Long story, details upon request. Though again, this year, the cold kept me home and working. Probably a good thing, though I'm sure I missed some fierceness. Not to mention drama. (Steve Angello is now my new hero - anybody throwing Paris Hilton out of the booth after requesting Him to play hip hop during a WMC Gig - Wins.) Add to that, three consecutive nights of Prince on Jay Leno....promoting his new 3CD album...."Lotus Flower."

All incredible stuff. Try to keep up will you?

For now. This podcast is a look / listen into the DJ mindset that I am putting out right now. It may not be my best or even my most adventurous set ever. And already, some of these songs have come out of the box. This one was all about the energy of the night. It felt good. The feel good Herbie. This one is a bit all over the place. It may not be what I might play at Your party. It was just a great crowd inspired, call and response, night at the club. It opens with Al Green and ends with Simply Red. And hits all the usual points of tribal, progressive and house music in mini sets within the whole of my CD bags. Yes, it was Winter Music Conference, and I know most of the big guys play Only the newest of the new music. There are some great new tunes here. But I am Herbie, and I have to give it up with some of the Herbicidal classics that are beloved to me. Those are the connects that bridge the old to the new. The vocals to the drums. The breakdowns to the buildups. It's all connected. WE! Do you feel me?

Promoters, I hope that All your events and dance floors, have the same out of body, blow up energy, that was in my room this night. And, all you people out there asking for "Journey", please know, that it happens over the whole night, not over the course of an hour. Also, "Journey" to one, isn't to another. How long were you there anyway? Was it all night? I only hope those people who walked into the room and heard Al Green and Jestofunk, stayed long enough to hear Lily Allen and Grace Jones. Or that they were "with me," feeling the strings in that lovely breakdown in Reflect "Need to Feel Loved." (a classic dance floor hug if there ever was one) And to all the peoples who come in late, and only got the tribal beating. You missed how we got there. And What were the late people thinking who only show up for last call to only get the come down at the end with George Benson and Simply Red. What kind of club is this to play down-tempo? (I love giving my people a musical head bobbing groove, hug out the door...not just a get out, we're done with you, kick.) I'm always talking to you. Listen to the lyrics. Overall, don't expect me to ever stay in one place for too long. Cuz' I like it all. And eventually, you'll get it. If only by injection.

All you dancers out there, Come on! You know that you have Got to hear this music Loud to "Get IT". So turn it up. Pump the bass. From the beginning to the end, there is always a point in the night when I finally match the volume in the room, to the body count, where you can finally feel the pump and roll. You can watch and see what it does to bodies, and for heads. There is also a fine line that is not to be crossed. Distortion is not your friend. I want to love you with a beat, not beat you with one. And, as far as breakdowns go; I've always said...."You have to know what down is...before you can know what up is." Let The Music Breathe!! That's just some more of my DJ mind working.

And lastly, Yes, I know, that upon close listening; on your high-end Klipsch 5.1 surround sound speaker systems with sub-woofers, that you can hear, that when over distracted, I over press the nudge buttons on That CD mixer / player thang that I have to use. But in the club, with crowd noise, during a "havin' It" night and peak volume, with 3 or 4 well poured cocktails in you, and all those half nekid menz, rubbing on it, bumping and groping you into a frenzy that will have you "up-for-it" for hours....you would Never be able to hear that if you weren't trying to. Capiche?

In the end, Bless you all in all your quests. But especially bless those who quest for good music. I have some for you to look out for right now, as I listen to a lot of different styles of music at home. On the list lately, is a new album by Nicole Henry, Nicole is a beautiful female jazz vocalista, with an incredible voice and style. And her album of jazz standards, "The Very Thought Of You," will be in my play stack for the rest of time. Not to be missed. Another new male vocal artist that I have fallen in love with. Is Matt Alber. His album "Hide Nothing" is nothing short of feel good, story telling, genius. Full of love songs about the human experience, that I can only compare to Joni Mitchell's writing. Both albums are highly recommended and deserve a listen.

On another note. www.hulu.com is a great site, and right now has an incredible documentary up for viewing. One that, if you are at All involved in the recording industry. Or even pondering of starting a band. Watch this movie!! It's called "Before the Music Dies." Uplifting at the end and totally worth the time to watch. Inspiration is where you find it. Teach one, then send one to teach.

Any of you music lovers out there who have a bit of time and money for travel, run to the Louisiana Jazz and Heritage Festival in New Orleans. It takes place the two weeks of that encompass the last weekend of April ‘til the first weekend in May, every year. No matter what style of music you love, you'll find something here to turn your head around. They run a first class, no hassle, fun loving crowd event that is not to be missed. I've been to over 12 of them and always look forward to the next time. Go to their site http://www.nojazzfest.com , and check out the Music Schedule, you'll be impressed with the line-up.

I hope that this rant wasn't too too much. But, I do it all for the love. So, what Ever You DO. Don't stop living "The life." And Don't buy into all the negative hype on TV. Find another way to spend your time. Join a church, join a charity, run a marathon, something to lift you up. And, Don't Stop Dancin' !! The Big Party opens early at 9pm, and there will be Five rooms, with two DJ's in each room. All Night Long. As you all know by now....Winter Party Miami is probably one of the Biggest circuit events in the world all year long. So this will most DEF BE one of "Those" parties that people will all connect with. And with So much good DJ talent....there will surely BE enough Fierce beats to go around. Thank you for the gift of music. My life would never be complete without it. It's also a gift that I love to share. I thank God every day of my life for it.. And, I truly appreciate that it comes out, and through me. To You. I can only give it back, as it's given to me. Feel the love people...Feel the Love. And I can't stop. I have actually tried and there were always walls put up before me. Then a door would open, allowing me to continue to use this gift. Thank you, and for all the opened doors along the way. It is Truly BEing a wonderful life. And thanks to you and all the great people that are still attracted to it, and who are in My life.

I also, love all the technology that's come along. Wish we'd had some OF IT back in the day. You know who you are. I can't seem to get enough OF IT. Sometimes my brain feels like it's going to explode. As I'm still working on my "Substitute Chordal Extensions." Owwww...there it goes again. But like my good buddy "W" says. You have to put in 10,000 hours before you're a pro at anything. I'm trying...really I am.

I've seen a lot OF IT change in all these years. Not to mention the people. Back when I Only played Vinyl. Before I ever used CD's. Before there was all this Fabulous software. Even before I could afford a then very expensive CD recorder. I recorded to Cassette. And not too long ago either. Well, here you go, with a good example. I Am, always digging the crates. I am also, always trying to free up space in my little one-bedroom DJ booth with a kitchen condo type living place. Besides the wall of industrial shelving (six of them) full of vinyl, there is a double wide closet, that I have deemed my "Disco" closet. Where I keep all the classic disco 12 inches, and remix service LPs that I have collected over the years. It's full, top to bottom. It also houses my collection of recorded cassettes from myself and various other DJ's of the day. Lately, it has become my "Mission" to listen to them all, vinyl included. And IF; I like them, they go into one place, and if I Don't....well, let's just say they find a new home. Some have been a real education in how I've grown as a DJ. But, in some cases though, it has just shown that I have always been fierce, (blush), and have always tried to play, what I thought, was the best, IMHO, music of that period in time. Case in point. This set.

Now keep in mind, that this is a cassette recording from July of 1999. Recorded at the Ramrod, Fort Lauderdale. (Yes, I've been there on and off, a Long time.) But this particular set, caught my ear as being back to back, Full of some of My Favorite progressive and house Classics, Ever. And what a lovely night this was. MmmmMuh, Herbicidal sexiness indeed.

Even though I do still own all these records, they are not currently in my rotation. Although I will, pull some of them out and record them. Also, even if I could find them all, I couldn't, or wouldn't, even pretend that I would again, play the set in the same order. Just wouldn't happen that way. (Note: IF ANYBODY, has discovered the BEST way to record vinyl, will you PLEASE, E me...plug-ins that I can use, etc.) I'm using Wavelab and just basically, peaking and changing gains when needed.

So, come back in time with me now. Ten years ago as it were. And enjoy some musical, Herbicidal History. This, is how the Herbicidal treatment was coming out back in July of 1999. There are some really beautiful songs here. Timeless I'd have to say. And all of them appeared back in the day, in what was then, the "Bin of Fierceness" (for those of you who knew me then.) I'm feeling Goosebumps.

Loving You...

I hope that you've all been paying close attention. As this is one of the most incredible times of all our lives right now. I know you're feelin' it. We have no choice really. It's the collective thoughts among us that perpetuates it all anyway. My buddy, we'll call him "W", taught me, that if you put the thought out to the universe....it will happen. Our spirits are strong, and sub-consciously, almost uncontrollable. Use them wisely. Oh yes, and words...Please, Only say what you really mean; because once you've said them, you can't get them back. Words are also very powerful; and you never forget them. And all of us; being connected in one way or another, we All go through the same things. We all have the same trials and tribulations at some point in our lives. We're all in this together. I'm just saying try to be sensitive to your family and friends and what they may be needing. I only say these things in love. Hope you feel me. (Ok, I'm done being cerebral, for now)
About me, I AM, pulled in about ten directions right now myself. And I am learning to multi-task; but, my filing system doesn't really work all the time. So I end up with little "To Do" stacks lying all over my um, we'll call it...office. Which is actually a One-bedroom DJ booth with a kitchen and bath. So.

I'm spinning for this year’s White Party in Miami. http://www.whiteparty.org I'm playing from 10pm to 3am at the fabulous ParkWest nightclub, downtown Miami, next door to, and next to Space. The party is called "White Starz"; and it's Me in one room; and Joe Gauthreaux in the other, playing the opening sets for Victor Calderone. Hello! Good company I'd say. All I know is. I'm just going to bring you my passion and love of the music, and play the energy of the party, trying to give it the Herbicidal spin. The club is stellar and I have one side of it for five hours peak night. I know the hype is on the street, so get your tickets now. Let's Dance!

For those of you who have been enjoying my weekly sets posted to http://www.GayInternetRadioLive.com, Well it's still up and running....but my times have changed an hour. The new times are now Tuesday 12AM (that's Monday night for me) till 2AM EST, and then on Saturday 12AM (that's Friday night for me) till 2AM EST. So, Monday Midnight and Friday Midnight for two hours (EST). I try to post a new set Every week which is exactly what I spin in the club week to week. So it's always fresh and Fierce. So, Stay tuned, there's a lot of great music new and old, and it changes about every five minutes.

One of the reasons it's taken me so long to post a new podcast lately, is because there has been so much good music around, and it's been coming so fast and furious that I haven't been able to choose a set. And, I have tried not to take it so seriously. So in listening to a few sets lately I picked this one because it's a taste of my love for the Groove. It's the first set of a recent night. I've been testing tracks and taking a lot of them, old and new, out of the bag. So this is me playing some of my fave choons at the moment. Let me know what you think.

I'd like to "Massage Your brain," with a few songs. But you'll have promise to come with me to Miami! Whu-What is this?....Miami you say! Yes, my little beat bunnies. Big news alert; Herbie's going to Play with the Big Boys. I AM, once again, playing this year during Miami's White Party Week of events. This time it's for the "Apollo's White Starz" party on Saturday night, right after Vizcaya. November 29th, at the Park West nightclub. I will be DJing this year along side heavy hitters, Joe Gauthreaux and Victor Calderone. Great time slot for this one; from 10pm till 3am, in the "Rehab" room. So you'll be able to get the full treatment. It's a really Incredible nightclub space, with great sound and lights. So, think White. Think Be a Star. Think Get there early so you get the full Herbicidal. It's going to be wild I tell you.

Dear Diary....(re:sigh)

....."Last night....I went to the club....". "Had a cocktail...(D.A.B.)....talked some trash." Played some music. Mixed some beats. Told a short story. Ask 'em to Move. (They did.) It was give, it was take, it was trust. From both sides. They gave to me....I gave to them. They Made me DOIT! They Begged me to DOIT! Rubbed on it 'till I did. So how...could I refuse? Over and over, took it like a pro...and with love. Lots of love. Big love. And....I'd DOIT again. And Will. Soon.

This night..(eye roll)...magical as it was....(aren't they all, when we ask for them...when we let them?)...it happened to be a bit out of My control. It was a beautiful, July full moon. Love when they rise like that, on my night, at the club. It has this power over me. Does something to me even during the drive in. Sunroof open, jazz on the radio, cruisin' slow, so as not to rush my entrance. So I can enjoy the view of the rising moon low in the FL sky ahead of me. Hand it over in thanks. Heavenly.

On the other hand. And I've said it before. The pull of that same full moon...has a distinct sexual pull... on me...And the crowd. I'm sure of it. It's almost tangible. It's Surely visible...(w). Seems to slow things down a bit...take some of the urgency off of the rush to "Get 'er done." And well....in the end....IT gets done. Trust me when I tell you....It's a good thing for all involved.

In listening to this set...as I write this; and as you might know, I have this, what I call, five song A.D.D. I mean, I love it all, and over my 20 years in the booth... have played it all. But my sets tend to fluctuate between styles in five song sets. Moving from drum style to drum style...bassline to bassline. I have my own way that I mix style to style...that is Herbicidal. As people have said to me;...."I knew when I walked in the club that it was you (me) playing." (I take that as the highest compliment.) Mostly now, I'd say, my sets consist of vocal house, to tribal progressive...with a taste of the electro....if you need a label. With the occasional anthem thrown in for flavor..and those change often...as I dig my collection constantly for them. Then there are the Bar anthems...the songs that the bartenders love to hear....that are recurrent. So this set is some of all of that. I can feel IT... and they must have been feelin', what I was feelin'. The room always has a hoppin' late crowd. Very friendly, as the bartenders tend to pour big stiff ones.

And then; as it does...it all ends too early it seems. Just as they, and you, are getting your groove on. Just beginning to reach for it. It's out the door. Next! Well...I hope this fulfills some of your Herbicidal expectations. I have the Most fun bringing it to you. I love the job and feel like I trip through enough new music to bring you nothing but the best of it all. Hope you feel me.

Hello there Universe. I am, for one, Very glad to BE here. That Here...is really.... whereEver, I AM. Are you with me? That, I, and You, are exactly where we are supposed to BE. Now, Take That thought.....and walk with it the next time you go to a party, club, or event. Walk into that event and just say..... "No matter What happens....I'M going to have a good time." WE; my friend, are All energy. It's a universal fact. We are All....made of stars. We are ALL....Connected. Where Ever WE are. So...I say. You take your party with you. If you want to have a good time....you will. It's one of my favorite lyrics in a song...."If you want to fall in love....You'll fall in love" (Jam and Spoon "Right In the Night")

It's True!

It's my adopted mantra. I'm going to have a good time. Everywhere. All the time. Are you with me? Just make it happen. And, can you just imagine what might happen to the world. If we all decide to not believe the hype that is broadcast daily in the news. To lift Up your own thoughts to a more positive, uplifting, "All you need is Love" attitude. And take That with you every time you leave the house. Take it to the grocery store. Take it on the road when you're stuck in traffic on the interstate. Take it on vacation. Take IT to the dance-floor. Eureka! I'm sure you've all been to that party. The one they still talk about. It was fun. It was old school. It was legendary. It was magic. It didn't even always necessarily have the best light show....or the best sound. But the "Vibe" was one, that I, to this day, try to recapture. Don't we all. Can't we all. I'm sure that all the promoters out there strive to do just that. Give 'em something to talk about. The right attitude will just Make it happen.

Lately, I have been challenged to assess my skills as a DJ. As a musician. To present my true soul every time I step up. It's been a real eye opening study on my part. I Think, that I am a better person for it. And from now on....I promise to BE to the best of my abilities. Always trying to grow and exceed. To bring something to the table. To open your mind to musical possibilities. And Try....to live by example. I'll give you all the benefit of the doubt, to being educated listeners. And I'll always play to the highest common denominator. So, Come on....there's plenty of room for us all.
Music. I'm just a messenger. I am only given a few hours a week to bring you, in my own little space, what I have chosen as the best of what I'm hearing...and what I'd like to hear...in a club. I'm a dancer.....therefore....If I can't dance to it....I probably won't play it. There's over a thousand tracks in my bags...and there's only so many tracks I can play in a few hours...so it may not come out the same every night. But, the sexual energy and positive, uplifting vocals will always be there. I play in the 128 to 132 BPM range....most of the time, unless I'm at the very beginning or the very end of the night. And, I love me some classics, and am always digging the crates to find one for a thrill.

So here.....is a taste of one of the current nights of late. Spread the love and send out the link. Tell all the promoters you know and love. You need to get them to bring me to YOU.
